Guernsey sprint June 2008
Ok after the hickups of the last sprint we were ready to hit 15 seconds and we bought methanol to try out after we got some good times down.

First run - warm up

Second run - missed second gear so lost valuable time - setup ignition timing for next run.

Third run - 15.28 and quick off the line - 64 yard time shows scoot in top 6 overall.

Forth run - missed as first gear shot, I stripped engine while Jez shot home to get a first gear and on his return the shogun nearly turned over due to dodgy parking on a bank. Engine rebuilt and ready for next run.

Fifth run - (words by Ben) Now this one was different, literally moments to go when we were supposed to be on the line me and jezz were still setting up the clutch, bump start she fires up sounds awsome with that JL4 on it. Timing sounds right, no boggin or spluttering so all good and off to the line. Jezz didn't get the best start - lots of well - spin and front wheel in the air but she goes of like a rocket. Eyes are fixed at the clock - 10, 11,12,13,14, and what?? it stopped on 14? whats the time, we managed 14.28 and 90 mph. Great time and we were not even running on Methanol. Better than we had expected with this motor, its old and we were sure it would blow any second.

Last run of the day and change carb over to methanol. On the line and off - I have never seen a wheel spin like it, the rear tyre literally melting . Half way down Jez pulls in the clutch as 'she's gonna blow captain', coasts the last half but still manages 18 seconds. Methanol it is on the next sprint... stay tuned.

New motor:Under development The next motor is based around a TS. The stroke is 64mm with a 120mm Rotax rod. To achieve this the cases needed a considerable amount of welding and machining to ensure that the crank fitted but also retained stength as a very deep channel is needed in the cases for the conrod to have clearance. Additionally the cylinder needs to be 11mm longer than standard, using a Wiseco Suzuki TS250 piston. Read more here...
