Millards 100 year bike show
June 2008
To celebrate 100 years of Millards motorbike and cycle shop trading the street was closed for the day and 100+ bikes and scooters lined the streets.
Winner of the scooter class and lovely trophy was Christine with her pearl yellow 125 special lambretta.
Sprinter motor: Wiseco Suzuki TS250 piston, piston ported, motoplat internal rotor ignition with weight welded to it, advance control unit for timing. Port timings are 189 exhaust, 130 tsfs, 176 inlet. 36mm amal smoothbore, custom pipe. Li 150 gearbox with 17/46 sprockets. and standard 4 plate clutch. Its oldschool and it's fast and we would welcome a race challenge...
Isle of Wight Scooter rally

A few of the Imperials eating out in Shanklin. No problems this year with break downs, not like 2006 when everyones scoot broke.
Isle of Wight Scooter Rally 2008
Its always one to look forward to and one thats difficult to miss. This year there were 7 of us that went but met up with all the other Guernsey guys both old and new, great to see Darren and Paula who came down from Scotland, Sean who kindly looked after Ben and let him stay in his tent after a very drunken Hipshaker on Friday night (thanks Sean and nice suit) and Andy the only scooterist in Alderney, who we met at the Yarmouth ferry and traveled with us to Poole and then Guernsey. Sods law that Andy got stopped in customs when he only had 15 mins to get to the airport to catch the plane to Alderny. Only one hickup on route, after stopping at the frst garage Josh decided his PK had enough in the tank and that would be fine to get to Poole even though the thirsty tuned lambrettas needed nearly a full tank. Who was it that ran out of petrol and nearly missed the ferry... Nice one Josh. Why is it always on a dual carrageway with no where to stop and no bl**dy petrol stations nearby!
We stayed in Shanklin again this year, and met lots of like minded scooterist from all over the country.
Pics from top to bottom:
Packing scoots ready for the Thursday afternoon boat to Poole, Ben's freshly rebuilt GP and Josh with his PK aptly named 'the mule' as he had a front and rear carrier and me and Ben only had sprint racks. Thanks Josh for carrying most of the stuff.
Just arrived at Lymington ferry £105 return for 3 scoots - thats a lot of money for a short journey.
Fi on her scoot minus the bingo wing panniers, she should have had a wide load sticker. Scoot now featuring sex pistols graphics but commented on as looking really good and suiting the 80's drivers screen (we thought the 2 skin heads that kept coming back to have a look were gonna pinch it). Ben looking on thinking I'm sure it had Quadraphenia on the side panels last week. Fi got the record for most Vodka consumed in 3 days and vows never to drink again, well at least until the next night, lol.
Christines lovely 125 special and my SX200, Nicks 125 special and Josh's PK mule. Nick got the award for how many times you can scratch and drop your side panels, followed by the award for most wobly wheel (it nearly came off) followed by the only 30mm dellorto that wont stay on followed by how to get your suede jacket wet and stain all your clothes underneath brown.
Ben and hat, we were at the custom show waiting for Sean and the Elite scooter club to show up. Then off for a spin and few ales.
Arriving at the parts fair nice day on Friday but went back up on Sunday as Bens air mixture screw dropped out (you would have thought they had one there but no). Got one from Lake lambrettas nice chap who has just set up a business in his garage, recommend him if anyone needs parts next year. After the rain the track was a mudfest.
Bens GP twinkling at the parts fair.
Custom show my favourite was the ss90 found after being stored since 1970 totally original - the sheet said it had racing history. Nice themed Pulp Fiction lammy. Lotus gold leaf special. On the bread line, the artwork was superb and I always like a dark theme.
From left to right, me Josh, Ben, Christine, Nick Jason and Jane who took pic, Jane gets the award for hardest bum after traveling all over the island on Jason's rally 200. She threw the towel in on Saturday and bought a cushion. Jane also gets the award for being most like Barbara Windsor. Jason wins one for the most cans drunk and another for attending a harley bikers club do and drinking with a bloke with a 12 foot beard listening to a heavy rock band.
Arrived at Poole waiting for the ferry seas were rough... Pic shows The Imperials, The Elite and Andy the only scooterist in Alderny on his 225cc series 2.
Sunday afternoon spin to the Imperial
From top left clockwise:
